✅ How This System Works
This setup is a downspout-to-French-drain water diversion system.
Here’s how it works step-by-step:

1. Rainwater flows from the roof into the downspout.
Water travels down the gutters into the white downspout.
2. The PVC fittings direct water into the drainage pipe.
The white PVC assembly includes:
An elbow directing water downward
A cleanout port with a green grate (allows clearing clogs)
A connector joining the PVC to the black corrugated pipe

3. Water enters the corrugated drain pipe.
The black pipe carries water away from the house foundations.

4. Landscape fabric prevents soil contamination.
The trench is lined with black landscape fabric to:
Keep dirt from clogging the pipe
Allow water to flow freely
Separate soil and gravel layers
Bricks temporarily hold the fabric in place.

5. Water is dispersed safely away from the home.
The pipe leads downhill or to a:
Dry well
Drainage ditch
Yard runoff zone
This prevents:
Basement flooding
Foundation damage
Soil erosion
